Frequently Asked Questions
Do you (still) take custom orders?
Sorry, at this point guitars are available through dealers or from stock available on this site. I still get emails and calls on this which I am no longer answereing or returning. This is in no way meant to offend anyone, I just cannot keep up and cannot spend the time on explaining this.
Why don't you take custom orders any longer?
Since I am such a small operation the way I can maximize my time building guitars and providing them to the largest number of people wanting them is to cut down as much non-productive time as I can. A single dealer with 10 guitars on order takes less administrative time as does one custom order from a single client. I enjoy building guitars and it is what I do best. I do not enjoy paperwork, phone calls or emails. As I got to an astounding amount of custom orders I ended up spending 3 days a week just on non-building, but necessary tasks in order to keep over 150 active clients happy and I was still never caught up. The phone machine and emails would pile up to alarming numbers putting much unwanted pressure on me. I am grateful for the success, but I won't do this if I am not enjoying it.
When I build a guitar for a dealer the guitar ends up somewhere where it will get tried out and played by several people prior to purchase. When the right person plays it, both he/she and the guitar will know it. When I build a guitar for a single client it will only be played by that one person and no matter how much we can go over specs prior to building, if there is just one area where an instrument and user do not like each other there is a problem.
Furthermore, a dealer is setup to handle the general public. It is whet they do day in and day out. They are better at separating the looky-loos and never-happy-no-mater-whats from the pleasant and discriminating buyer. I am a virtual hermit and would probably be happy if I never had to deal with anyone other than, my wife, kids, a few old and dear clients, family and close friends.
How do I become a dealer?
Email me for complete dealer info. There are minimum order requirements and you MUST have an actual store open to the general public.
What bodies and necks do you use?
I use many sources for licensed Bodies and Necks depending on what specs and price range are needed. All finishing work is in 100% nitrocellulose lacquer. Note: Other than a handful of the largest makers, all builders outsource their bodies, necks and hardware.
What hardware is used?
Most of the vintage hardware is from Gotoh.
What pickups are used?
Lollars are put in unles requested by the dealer to install Duncan, DiMarzio, Fralin, Rio Grande, Van Zandt or Fender.
What is the warranty or guarnatee on a Nashguitar?
Nashguitars are warrantted against MFG defects for 2 years from the purchase date.
What do I do if my guitar needs setup or adjustment?
Buy a book on setup and minor adjustment. If you are serious about playing guitar and do not know how to intonate, adjust a neck, change the action, clean pots or some other such things it is high time you learned. Think of the freedom and empowerment. Check out JK Luthierie, Stewart MacDonald or Amazon for a myriad of books on this. I am completely self taught and if someone who lived through the 70s in Los Angeles playing in rock bands can do what I do, I am sure you are emminently qualified. Do you refinish or sell parts?
I no longer sell parts or do any refinishing work. Please do not call or email for bodies, necks, parts or aging services on a pre-existing guitar.
How do you age the hardware (or plastic or any other question about methods I use)?
Most of it is done by magic conjuring late at night by Voodoo Priestesses. ( I do not discuss my methods, sorry)
Can I play "Freebird" or "Stairway to Heaven" on my Nashguitar?
My guitars come with a special chip that senses these and several other songs. If played, the guitar will melt and mutate into an 8 track player (thus voiding the warranty). For a complete list of non-playable songs GO HERE.
